Eighteen students joined us at Cortijo Romero in Southern Spain. It was a very good mixed ability group and most of the students did all of the classes which was quite admirable.
Cortijo Romero is located in the Alpujarras region near the Sierra Nevada mountains and is surrounded by palm trees and very peaceful.
We taught two classes each day with Davy leading his astanga style dynamic class, Janaki introducing different meditation and pranayama techniques, and exploring other yoga styles including the very popular yin yoga.
At the end of the week, a partner yoga session proved as usual to be a popular high spot with lots of laughter. Bearing in mind some of the students were fairly new to yoga, we were honoured to teach such a focussed and willing and enthusiastic group at Cortijo and have already met up with some of them since.
There was a day off during the week where we visited Pampaneira, a village up in the mountains, and had the opportunity to visit a bodega and sample local wines and cheeses – and to shop! We then had a picnic followed by a gentle walk with breathtaking views of the region.
The weather was hot most of the week, so the pool was very popular.
And the pre yoga Tai Chi on the roof was led by the gentle Trevor!
At the end of the week the students put on a cabaret and we were honoured to have two songs dedicated to us by Amy – ‘Ode to the Mighty Air’ – and the Norwich Eleven ‘Thank you for the Yoga’.
Cortijo Romero is in our diary for next August … looking forward to it already.
“Just would like to thank you for the most marvellous yoga week ever”
